Many of the articles crossing our virtual desktops in the past week or so remind us of the challenges facing faculty as they make the move to remote teaching. Because the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) has disrupted so many aspects of our academic calendar, the university is extending the final deadline to be compensated for completing portions of the Teaching Support Program (TSP) . The new deadline is May 15.
The University Institute for Teaching and Learning welcomes instructors to a first week of teaching remotely with additional resources and programming found under the Instructor Support section of our website.
In particular, UITL is developing several Remote Teaching Tip Sheets , the first of which, “ Accessible and Inclusive Assessments ,” was published Tuesday. Several tip sheets will follow in the next few days, including those on developing and sustaining inclusive teaching in a remote context, Graduate Teaching Assistant considerations, exploring scholarly teaching while adapting, and others.
The University Institute for Teaching and Learning will host remote consultation hours throughout this week, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
UITL staff will be available to provide support and consultation on a wide range of topics, including, among others:
Evidence-based assessment and instructional strategies Inclusive teaching in various learning contexts Instructional redesign Developing assignments to meet learning outcomes Student engagement and classroom/learning context management
