Dr. Kenneth Moran is a Professor of Anesthesiology in the College of Medicine. After finishing medical school at The Ohio State University, he completed an internship year in preliminary medicine at Riverside Methodist hospital before returning to OSU for residency training in anesthesiology. After completing his training, he remained at OSU as a faculty member in the department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Moran has been a clinical base year director, residency program director and currently serves as the vice chair for education for his department. The anesthesiology department at OSU consists of over 100 faculty physicians, 56 residents, up to 12 fellows and trains hundreds of rotating medical students and other learners from a variety of clinical fields. In addition, he provides service on a national level on multiple education-related committees in the Ohio Society of Anesthesiology, the Society for Education in Anesthesiology and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Dr. Moran has also served as an editor and board certification exam question writer for the American Board of Anesthesiologists. In addition to a variety of clinical areas, Dr. Moran’s research interest include education pedagogy and has resulted in multiple publications on the use of digital tools, the flipped classroom, honesty in the residency match, simulation training, objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE), manuals and cognitive aids, skills labs and patient instruction.
