Maxey Wellman graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University, completed an internship at Cornell University, and an MS at the University of Illinois before returning to Ohio State to complete her residency and PhD in the Department of Veterinary Biosciences, where she currently is a Professor and Section Head of the Clinical Diagnostic Laboratories.
Dr. Wellman is the Training Program Coordinator for the veterinary clinical pathology residents in the combined residency/PhD program, and has served on numerous graduate committees for MS and PhD students. She is a longtime member of the Council for Professional Education in the college, is an advisor to the University Institute for Teaching and Learning (UITL) and is the Cytology/Surgical Pathology Section Editor for Veterinary Clinical Pathology.
She has given numerous hematology and cytology continuing education presentations nationally and internationally. Previously, she served as the President of the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology and President of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Dr. Wellman has received the Carl Norden-Pfizer Distinguished Teacher Award and the Dean’s Creativity in Teaching Award from the college, and has a special interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
