The Center for Teaching Innovation at Cornell University is offering Teaching & Learning in the Diverse Classroom as a massive open online course (MOOC) from February 17 - March 23, 2020 . This five-week course will guide instructors in exploring frameworks and strategies for building and sustaining inclusive learning environments. Attendance is free.

The Academy of Teaching's Executive Council, has extended its proposal submission deadline for the Annual Conference on Excellence in Teaching & Learning to Feb. 5. John Beacom, Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor and Henry L. Cox Professor of Physics and Astronomy, has received the National Postdoctoral Association’s 2020 Garnett-Powers Association Inc. Mentor Award . This award recognizes a single faculty member who has engaged in exceptional mentoring of postdoctoral scholars.

School of Earth Sciences, Lima Campus

Dr. Mark Kleffner, who started as a student at The Ohio State University in 1975, earned all three of his geology degrees from the school. He joined the faculty of the Lima, Ohio, campus pf Ohio State in 1989. Dr. Kleffner has been president of the Lima campus faculty assembly for seven years and is in his first year as head of the Earth History Division of the School of Earth Sciences.
