Erin Mercurio

Erin Mercurio (she/her/hers) is an Instructional Consultant at the Drake Institute. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Philosophy at Ohio State in 2021. Her dissertation on the metaphysics of fictional objects explored issues related to imagination, language, emotion, and the nature of fiction.    

Erin first began working at the Drake Institute as a Graduate Consultant, leading workshops on a variety of topics (e.g., active learning, discussion facilitation, assignment and course design, inclusive teaching, and writing effective teaching and diversity statements) and consulting with graduate students at Ohio State. 

As an instructional consultant, she continues to support graduate instructors on campus through the planning of the university’s annual Graduate Teaching Orientation and provides individual and unit consultation services to instructors who teach in a wide variety of roles, contexts, and departments at the university. She has a pedagogical interest in alternatives to traditional grading approaches. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, crocheting, and playing guitar.
